Air Jordan 13 Retro

The year of 1997 was marked by two main and special reasons: it was Michael Jordan’s “Last Dance” with the Chicago Bulls, and the Air Jordan 13 made its debut. Designed by the illustrious Architect, Tinker Hatfield, the thirteenth iteration of the Jordan lineage is truly one of a kind.

Air Jordan 13 Retro

Just before its last game with the Bulls, the Air Jordan 13 saw seven colourways (five highs and two lows) being released. Inspired by Michael Jordan’s infamous nickname, “Blackcat”, the Air Jordan 13 is considered one of the most technically advanced performance basketball sneakers of its time. Apart from displaying a holographic jewel at the heel, the most important parts cannot be seen in the naked eye: Zoom Air cushioning underneath, midfoot dimpled overlays as well as a carbon fibre plate for a secure fit. On the outsole, if you look close enough, it resembles the paw of a cat, delivering extra grip when on the hardwood prowl. Moreover, this iconic sneaker was also featured in Spike Lee’s “He Got Game” movie, worn by Denzel Washington, which inspired the “Black Toe” nickname given on the released retro pair.
