Air Jordan 14 Retro
Yet another basketball sneaker designed by Tinker Hatfield is the Air Jordan 14, originally debuted in the 1998-1999 NBA season. In other words, these are the first signature pair that was released after Michael Jordan’s second NBA retirement, after his Chicago Bull’s tenure.
shop nowWhen we look at them, design-wise, the Air Jordan 14 captures the lavish style of the era and was inspired by many things, including Jordan’s favourite sportscar brand: Ferrari.
The “Black Toe” Air Jordan 14 was the first one to release, in 1998, while all other OG variations were only made available later in 1999. This model has become very distinctive as its construction changed depending on the colourway, varying from being stitched with a perforated treatment to a full-grain leather upper. Nevertheless, its sportscar inspiration linked to high-end performance made the Air Jordan 14 one of the most coveted of all time, delivering elevated stability. The connection to Ferrari is found all over the silhouette, starting with its jewel logo all the way to the “exhaust” ventilation system – quite a captivating design! Underneath, it is all you can expect: Zoom Air units can be found at the toe and heel, along with a phylon midsole. Extra grip is achieved due to its herringbone pattern on the outsole.
