adidas is an acronym from Adolf's nickname "Adi" and the first three letters his name, Dassler. With the founding of adidas, the trademark for the three stripes was also registered. To this day, the three stripes are adidas' number one recognition mark and one of the most famous brand logos in existence. adidas achieved international fame after the victory of the German football team at the 1954 World Cup in Bern, where adidas completely equipped the team with their football boots. In addition to football shoes, adidas also began to manufacture shoes for running and to develop new technologies. To this day, Torsion, adiPRENE and BOOST are among the best known technologies from adidas. In addition to adidas Performance, the lifestyle brand adidas Originals was launched in 2001. adidas Originals was created because of the popularity and high demand of retro styles in the 1990s. At the same time, the Trefoil was reintroduced, which disappeared in 1990.

Today, the Adidas Group is one of the leading manufacturers for sportswear and sports goods in the world. Since its foundation, its main business has been in the performance sector. But since the 1980s and thanks to artists such as RUN-Dmc, the sneakers and tracksuits have also been worn outside of sport. Adidas, you could say, has had a major influence on streetwear. Especially the Adidas Superstars became iconic and even 50 years after their release they are still one of the most popular sneakers of all time. But also running shoes that were only meant for sports have found their way into the lifestyle segment. Like for example the ZX-, or EQT-series, which convinced the wearer by design and comfort. But the best example of a performance shoe, which became a lifestyle sneaker in a very short time, is the Adidas UltraBOOST. No runner in recent history has achieved such rapid success in streetwear and lifestyle like the UltraBOOST. As is well known, Kanye West is also partly responsible for the success of the UltraBOOST. He was already wearing the sneaker before his YEEZY deal. In order to grow further in the lifestyle segment, Adidas started a collaboration with Kanye West. The first Yeezy was released in 2015. Since then, the success of the Yeezy sneakers has been unstoppable and numerous Colorways followed.
