Reebok's story actually starts in 1895 in Great Britain. Under the name J.W. Foster and Sons the first runners were produced. Athletes during the 1924 Olympic Games were wearing the runners. Reebok was then founded by the founder's two grandsons, as they wanted to join the market. The name Reebok is the Afrikaans translation of grey rhebok. In 1979, Reebok was discovered by the American businessman Paul Fireman during a trade show in Chicago. Shortly after Reebok entered the US market. With the aerobics and fitness trend of the 80's, the Reebok "Freestyle" for women and the "Ex-O Fit" for men just released at the right time. Both sneakers were a box office hit, so Reebok celebrated a huge success. With the introduction of the legendary Pump technology, the next hit entered the market. Top-class athletes, such as Dee Brown and Michael Chang, made the Pump System famous. To this day, the Pump technology can be found in some Reebok sneakers. With new innovations like the Zig Kinetica cushioning, Reebok is always looking for the best technology for you and your workout. But also classic silhouettes like the Reebok Club C or the Reebok Classic have been popular for years, due to their timeless design.
