KangaROOS
shop nowSo, the "Original Shoe with pockets" was born. The kangaroo was chosen as logo because it never moves backwards, and the pocket fitted the concept of the shoes perfectly. The first shoe on the market at that time was the KangaROOS COMBAT. Just one year later, in 1980, the runner Bill Rogers won the Boston City Marathon wearing the COMBAT. He also set a new American record. From then on, everyone was talking about the KangaROOS and every runner wanted a pair of the KangaROOS sneakers. Besides running, KangaROOS also entered the basketball sport and presented the KangaROOS SKYWALKER in 1983, which, thanks to NBA legend Clyde "The Glide" Drexler, became the sneaker of desire of the 80s. With the success came the first KangaROOS cushioning system – the KangaROOS Dynacoil. The patented and NASA-tested cushioning system absorbs shocks and gives the sneakers a comfortable ride. The Dynacoil system has become a trademark alongside the pocket. In addition to running and basketball, KangaROOS also developed shoes and clothing for other sports.
KangaROOS Made in Germany
In 1981 Bernd Hummel GmbH acquired the license for distribution for the DACH region. When KangaROOS was acquired in 1991 by the Pentland Group plc. from London, Bernd Hummel GmbH negotiated a contract as a Master Licensee. With this Master Licensee they were able to design their own and independent collections, which were especially designed for the European market. This meant that it was now possible to produce KangaROOS "Made in Germany". The handmade Made in Germany models are especially known for their excellent workmanship and exclusivity.

AFEW x KangaROOS Omnicoil II "Jelly"
In 2016 the sequel to the "Peanut Butter" followed, the AFEW x KangaROOS Omnicoil II "Jelly". As a special, each pair received a "Jelly" plastic box, a jam recipe and a jar of jam. For the upper we chose to have a matirial mix of leather and suede.
AFEW x KangaROOS Coil R1 "Mighty Forest"
The third collaboration with KangaROOS followed in 2018 – the AFEW x KangaROOS Coil R1 "Mighty Forest". This time we chose the forest as our theme. The special thing about this sneaker is not only the high-quality craftsmanship and the limitation to 300 pairs. We donated ten trees via Plant-for-the-Planet in addition to each pair we have sold. Each pair also has the coordinates of the area where the trees are planted perforated on it. In addition to the "Mighty Forest", there was also the "Black Forest", a black leather version, which limited to five(!) pairs worldwide.
