Nike Air Pegasus
When the Pegasus was launched in 1982, Nike Air was still relatively new. Up to that point, the Air elements extended over the entire length of the shoe. With the Pegasus, however, it was now possible to place an Air element only in the heel, exactly where most runners touch the ground.
shop nowWith a combination of Nike Air, a waffle tread outsole and a new foam, the Pegasus had what it took to lead the industry in responsive cushioning and become a runner's favourite shoe. In the first month, 8,000 pairs were sold. About a month later, it was already more than 35,000 pairs. In the first half of 1983, over 300,000 pairs were sold.
